St Mary’s Lent Course 2024 – No Greater Love.
The last session of the Lent course will focus on the 7 last words of Christ. All are invited – you do not need to have attended the previous sessions. We begin at 7:30pm in the small hall. An ideal way to begin Holy Week.
Please Pray for those undergoing RCIA formation:
Kate, Sandra, Eleanor, Sean, Alessandro and Adriano have been in Catholic formation since September. They and their sponsors will have their feet washed on Maundy Thursday and they will all receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Easter Vigil with one of them making their First Holy Communion. Please pray for them and their sponsors as we all journey towards Easter.
Offertory Collections at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Day:
The offertory collection at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Day go towards the salary of the Parish Priest – Many Thanks.
Thank You to the SVP
Thank you to the SVP for hosting a lovely St Patrick’s Day reception after Mass on Monday. There is a great podcast about St Patrick on BBC iPlayer called a “Short History of St Patrick”. Well worth a listen!
We have reached the end of Lent.
• Just some reminders and notices as we enter Holy Week……
• This weekend you are invited to write down the name of someone who probably will not be able to venerate the cross on Good Friday. It could be someone who is unwell or housebound or who feels far from God’s love. It could be someone unable to attend because they feel overwhelmed by financial or family pressures. It could be those in the midst of warfare and famine. Their names will be fixed to two crosses which will remain in church up until Easter Monday. The invitation is that we all pray for them during this very Holy Week.
• One of the Lent requests was to set aside a few coins in an envelope for either “Mary’s Meals”, “Finchley Foodbank”, CAFOD or “Bakhita House”. Whatever you have been able to set aside is of value – Small Change makes Big Changes! If you have done so, please label your envelope with the name of the charity and post through the presbytery letterbox (Otto does not eat money) or give to me when you see me.
• Hot Cross Buns are needed after the Family Stations of the Cross at 11am on Good Friday. Edible donations will be served with tea and coffee in the small hall.
• Please make a point of attending Thursday’s 8pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper, the 3pm Good Friday Celebration of the Lord’s Passion and Holy Saturday’s 8pm Easter Vigil. Each day is very different in its re-telling of Christs passion journey and much work will have gone into the music and decoration of the church.
With every Holy Week Blessing,
Fr Peter.
