Priests’ Training Fund – Second Collection
This Sunday is Good Shepherd Sunday and our second collection will support the Priest Training Fund. This fund pays for the priestly formation of men for the Catholic priesthood. There are currently 48 men studying at Allen Hall seminary, 14 of whom are from our own Diocese, with two studying in Rome. Last year 8 men who studied at Allen Hall were ordained to the priesthood to serve as our future priests. The fund also supports the ongoing enrichment and formation of our ordained priests. Your gift ensures we can provide training for these men responding to Christ’s call to dedicate their lives to serve God’s people. Please be as generous as you can. Please also pray for vocations and for all our priests. If you do not have a donation envelope, plenty are still available at the back of the church. Yu can use the QR code to make your donation online or visit www.rcdow.org.uk/donations. Thank you for your generosity.
Catholic Identity Cards:
Fr Peter writes: “A very kind parishioner has printed “Catholic Identity Cards” (to have in our purses and wallets) in the event we have an accident. The card request that hospital staff or paramedics ask for me or an ‘on call’ RC healthcare chaplain to visit and anoint you.”
Only Two Weeks to go!
· For the International Feast Day Mass at 11am – You are invited to come in your National Dress.
· Please let Fr Peter know if you would like to read or say a prayer in a language unique to your culture.
Outside Stations of the Cross:
The outside stations have been changed to reflect the Good News of the Resurrection. You can use Fr Terry’s book on the Stations of the Resurrection (available in the porch) to pray these important episodes in the life of the early church.
Parish Trip to Lourdes:
Fr Peter writes: “We had a joyful and peaceful pilgrimage to Lourdes. Our Lady held us in her care gracing us with humour and contentment. We prayed for all of you many times during the week. We must do another pilgrimage soon!
OLOL – Marathon Heroes!
Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School N12 is massively appreciative of all the donations to the NSPCC and are proud to announce that, together, we've raised £4,452.00! 50 children from OLOL, the Executive Head, Barbara Costa, and the Head of School, Heather Kilcommons, ran the world's biggest Marathon along the iconic route at the TCS London Marathon and are still buzzing from the event and how much they've raised for such a wonderful charity which will bring hope and change to many children and families. Thank you, from all of us at OLOL.
Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla
Next Sunday’s 10am Mass will include Coronation prayers for King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Below is a prayer you are requested to pray on Friday and Saturday. King Charles carries on his late mothers work of being a monarch who seeks to protect the right of religious freedom in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. We join our prayers with Cardinal Vincent for King Charles.
PRAYER FOR THE KING
Almighty God, we pray,
that your servant Charles, our King,
who, by your providence has received the governance of this realm, may continue to grow in every virtue,
that, imbued with your heavenly grace,
he may be preserved from all that is harmful and evil
and, being blessed with your favour
may, with his consort and the royal family,
come at last into your presence,
through Christ who is the way, the truth and the life
and who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
