“WHEN YOU PRAY”

This Monday’s Theme “The Living Flame of Love”

Every Monday until Monday 7th April. Each session is an hour, beginning at 7:30pm and occurs in the small hall

You can still make it one of your Lent commitments for 2025.

PLEASE KEEP IN YOUR PRAYERS:

The RCIA group has been meeting since September and are about to begin a more intense period of formation before Easter. At the Easter Vigil Aziz and Arlan will be Baptised, receive their First Holy Communion and Confirmed. Roger and Milka will also be confirmed. Please keep John, their catechist, and their sponsors in your prayers as we journey through Lent towards the great feast of Easter.

NEXT WEEKEND IS “PALM SUNDAY”:

For those attending next Sunday’s 10am Mass we will begin in the hall and listen to the Palm Sunday Gospel and then process to the church to hear the Passion reading. Palm leaves will be provided, but children are invited to bring branches from their gardens, or with permission from a care-taker, to take similar from their local park. Like the disciples, we will welcome the Messiah with “Hosannas” and branches of celebration.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO CONFESSION?

Fr Peter will be hearing confessions throughout Holy Week. He will be in the confessional (behind the statue of Our Lady) during the Maundy Thursday Vigil (around 9pm – 11pm), after the 11am Family Stations of the Cross on Good Friday and after the 3pm Solemn Liturgy of the Lords Passion (also on Good Friday). He will also be hearing confessions at 10:30am on Holy Saturday.

THIS TUESDAY:

Fr Peter writes: “I would be very grateful if you could refrain from visiting or ringing the presbytery on Tuesday. On Tuesday St Mary’s will be part of an external Westminster diocesan audit and Yvonne and I will be interviewed by an accountant (or two). External audits are standard practice for organisations as large as the Diocese of Westminster. Obviously if the matter is urgent and someone needs anointing or immediate assistance please do ring or make contact. Otherwise, please keep both of us in your prayers.”

LENT THOUGHT:

THE COURAGE OF FREEDOM

“Be free people! What do I mean? Perhaps it is thought that freedom means doing everything one likes, or seeing how far one can go by trying drunkenness and overcoming boredom. This is not freedom. Freedom means being able to think about what we do, being able to assess what is good and what is bad, these are the types of conduct that lead to development; it means always opting for the good. Let us be free for goodness. And in this do not be afraid to go against the tide, even if it is not easy! Always being free to choose goodness is demanding but it will make you into people with a backbone who can face life, people with courage and patience.”

Pope Francis “I want you to be Happy” – Hodder & Stoughton
