THURSDAY PRAYERS AT 12PM.

Each Thursday there will be a short prayer session in the meeting room in the Presbytery.  Four parishioners will take it in turn to lead, and the format may vary from week to week, but all sessions will provide a quiet time of prayer and reflection.  The sessions will last about 20 minutes.  You are warmly invited.

THIS YEAR, RACIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY WILL BE CELEBRATED ON SUNDAY, 16 FEBRUARY 2025.

The theme, “Pilgrims of Hope: Our Journey Together Towards Racial Justice”, invites Catholics across England and Wales to reflect on the collective journey towards racial justice in our schools, parishes and the wider society.

Bishop Paul McAleenan, Lead Bishop for Racial Justice, said: “2025 is a very special year. It marks both a Year of Jubilee and the 30th anniversary of Racial Justice Sunday. “This year, we invite the Catholic community to reflect on the journey towards racial justice- past, present and future – by asking: 'How far have we come, where are we now and what remains to be achieved?’

“Just as pilgrims must prepare for their journey and be properly equipped, we, too, need all that is necessary to propel us towards racial justice - the mind of Christ; examination of our progress and of the challenges that remain; a willingness to learn from one another together; and prayers for and on the journey.”

God of our past, present and future,

you created each one of us in your image and likeness,

help us to recognise you in each person. As we pray for end to suffering caused by racism

lead us this day to walk with one another,

pray with one another and work together,

so that we create a future based on justice and healing,

where all can fulfil the hope, you have for all peoples. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

ST MARY’S LENT COURSE – 2025

“WHEN YOU PRAY”

You know prayer is important but still find it challenging. Perhaps it’s hard to find time, or you’re unsure what to do when you pray. Or maybe you feel discouraged by your weaknesses and your inability to overcome them.

If you have any of these feelings, you are not alone. Many of the saints struggled in prayer. They were like us. But each time they fell, they got up again and learned to rely more on God’s grace.

What God did in the lives of countless saints, he wants to do in our lives. And that’s what this study is about: the journey of prayer God wants to take us on.

Authored and presented by Dr Edward Sri, When You Pray also features Fr. Jacques Philippe, Fr. Josh Johnson, Fr. Gregory Pine, Sister Josephine Garrett, Fr. Donald Haggerty, and Sister Maris Stella.

Course begins Monday 3rd March at 7:30pm in the small hall and will continue every Monday until Monday 7thApril. Each session is an hour.
