OFFERTORY COLLECTIONS

Week ending 29th September: The Offertory Collection was £691.70 and Contactless was £100.29. The amounts for Standing Orders, Stripe and Online Donations will be communicated a month in arrears. Thank you for your generosity.


FIRST HOLY COMMUNION REGISTRATION

If your child is baptised, is in year 3 (or above) and you would like them to make their First Confession and First Holy Communions at St Mary’s in 2025, please ask Fr Peter for a “First Communion Registration Sheet” after one of the Sunday Masses. Registration for this programme will remain open for the next few weeks.

 

CAFOD – SECOND COLLECTION 5TH/6TH OCTOBER 2024

After all the Masses this weekend, there will be a second collection for CAFOD Family Fast Day.  Envelopes are available at the back of the church.  Thank you in advance for your support of this worthy cause.

 

PLEASE NOTE: CHANGE TO MASS TIMES THIS COMING WEEK

Because of the retreat taking place this coming week, the time for weekday Mass will be at 7 pm.  There will be a Mass on Wednesday this week, again at 7 pm.  The Saturday Vigil Mass on 12th October will take place at 6 pm instead of 5 pm.  All the times for the Sunday Masses remain the same.

 

ST MARY’S BLESSING OF PETS

Come to the Parish Centre at 2pm on Sunday 20th October for a special “Blessing of Pets” service presided by Fr Peter. All pets welcome. All animals must be accompanied by a responsible owner and attendance is at the owner’s risk.

• 6:30pm: First Retreat Sermon and Prayers to Our Lady

 

Monday, 7th October to Friday, 11th October

• 9:30am: Morning Prayer (at home, while travelling, or at the office and at St Mary’s)

• 12:30pm - 12:50pm: Guided Meditation (led by Lin, John, or Fr Peter) in Church and Live Streamed:https://www.twitch.tv/saintmarys

7:00pm: Mass

7:30pm - 8:00pm: Retreat Sermon and Prayers to Our Lady

Confessions:

• Tuesday & Thursday at 7:00pm

 

Saturday, 12th October

• 6:00pm: Closing Mass and Final Retreat Sermon

 

Each evening at 7:30pm, a different priest will preach about the Our Father…. line by line. The Our Father features in the Rosary, and October is the month of the Rosary.

 

This is an opportunity not to be missed.

SVP SENIORS AFTERNOON TEA

The SVP are inviting Seniors to Afternoon Tea on Saturday 12th October at 3 pm and will finish in time for the 5 pm Mass.  It will include a mixture of sandwiches, cakes and scones and, of course, lots of tea or coffee.

If you are a senior and wish to attend, please sign the sheet in the church porch.  If you have any allergies or special dietary requirements, please indicate on the signup sheet by Sunday 5th October.

 

CHRISTMAS FAIR COMMITTEE 6 OCT - CAN YOU HELP?

Join us today over a cuppa in the hall after the 10am Mass to plan a wonderful Christmas event. Sign-up sheets are at the church entrance or email Fr Peter if you would like to run a stall. St Mary’s Christmas Fete will be on Sunday 1st December. To help prepare, please drop off at Church any baskets, empty jars or Bottles (within date) for the tombola!

 

St MARY’S SAFEGUARDING MEETING:

There will be a parish meeting about Safeguarding on Monday 14th October at 7:30pm in the Parish Centre. This is a chance for you to ask questions and meet Eimir Read the Parish Safeguarding Representative. A new noticeboard to the right of the church, has been set aside for safeguarding.

 

NEW ROTAS: SUNDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 2024 - SUNDAY 2ND MARCH 2025

The current rotas end on Sunday 3rd November and work on drawing up the new rotas will start very soon. If you wish to change the Mass at which you normally serve or you know that you are unavailable on a particular day for the Mass you normally attend, please let Yvonne, Parish Administrator know by Monday 14th October. The new rotas will run from Sunday 10th November 2024 until Sunday 2nd March, 2025. There will be a special, separate rota for Christmas Day Masses.

 

ST MARY’S YOUTH……

The Sunday before last was a showdown of the parish's bowling youth champions, and what a blast it was! Big shout out to Ria, Eric, Ruth, Albert, Lily, Aidan, Elliot, Angel, Leandre, and Grazziela for bringing the fun and fierce competition! After an exciting, nail-biting match, everyone refuelled with a well-deserved McDonald's feast, only to jump right back into action with some epic foosball battles! And guess what? The fun’s not over—next up is a popcorn and pizza movie evening on Sunday 17th November – details to follow…
