REQUEST FROM THE SVP
Double buggy required: A buggy in good condition that is suitable for a new born baby and a 2-year-old toddler is needed urgently by a parish family. If you have one, please contact Father Peter.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION REGISTRATION
If your child is baptised, is in year 3 (or above) and you would like them to make their First Confession and First Holy Communions at St Mary’s in 2025, please ask Fr Peter for a “First Communion Registration Sheet” after one of the Sunday Masses. Registration for this programme will remain open for the next few weeks.

SECOND COLLECTION FOR THE LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR
After all Masses on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September there will be a second collection for the Little Sisters of the Poor. The special work of the Little Sisters is to look after the aged poor. In the Diocese of Westminster, they run a residential care home in Stoke Newington called St Anne’s.

SVP SENIORS AFTERNOON TEA
The SVP are inviting Seniors to Afternoon Tea on Saturday 12th October at 3 pm and will finish in time for the 5 pm Mass. It will include a mixture of sandwiches, cakes and scones and, of course, lots of tea or coffee.
If you are a senior and wish to attend, please sign the sheet in the church porch. If you have any allergies or special dietary requirements, please indicate on the signup sheet by Sunday 5th October.
CHRISTMAS FAIR COMMITTEE 6 OCT - CAN YOU HELP?
• Join us on 6 Oct over a cuppa in the hall after the Sunday 10am mass today to plan a wonderful Christmas event. Sign-up sheets are at the church entrance or email Fr Peter if you would like to run a stall.
• St Mary’s Christmas Fete will be on Sunday 1st December. To help prepare, please drop off at Church any baskets, empty jars or Bottles (within date) for the tombola!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Are you an adult thinking about becoming a Roman Catholic? Or are you a Catholic adult who has not made your First Holy Communion or Confirmation or just not made your Confirmation? If so, please get in touch with Fr Peter either by email, or a telephone call or after Mass.
The first meeting for those interested will be Tuesday 1st October at 7:30pm in the house next door to the Church – called “The Presbytery”. Please let Fr Peter know if you wish to attend.
Thank you to the parish craft group for the wonderful teddies presented to the parish at last Sunday’s 10am Mass. Those knitted bears will be sent to children in Ukraine, Asylum Seeker families and tots caught up in a major incident.

St MARY’S SAFEGUARDING MEETING:
There will be a parish meeting about Safeguarding on Monday 17th October at 7:30pm in the Parish Centre. This is a chance for you to ask questions and meet Eimir Read the Parish Safeguarding Representative. A new noticeboard to the right of the church, has been set aside for safeguarding.
St Mary’s Parish Retreat:
Sunday 6th – Sunday 13th October
9:30am: Morning Prayer in Church (leaflet to be provided for those at home or at work) in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
12:30pm – A led meditation in church for 20 minutes (to be live streamed for those WFH and in the office)
7pm – Mass (and possibility of confession)
7:30pm to 8pm – Retreat Prayer and Reflection led by Visiting Priest.
Fr Peter writes….Fr Dom, Fr Michael O’Boy, Canon Robert Plourde, Canon Mehall Lowry, Fr Patrick Van Der Voorst and Fr Howard James have all agreed to preach during our parish retreat. After an evening Mass we will have a short period of prayer to Our Lady with a different priest preaching and we will then salute Mary holding lit candles. We will be required to sing!
Our retreat theme is “the Our Father” – the blueprint to prayer.
